Like a great unerring clock of time, the purpose of God knows no haste, no delay. An we say with the songwriter:
Jesus still leads on, till our rest be won,
And although the way be cheerless, we will follow
Calm and fearless; Guide us by the hand
To our father-land
It was in the month of September 1975 that the guiding hands of God lead Pastor M.E Weir, then Pastor of the Rollington Town Seventh-day Adventist Church, together with his dedicated Boars of Officers, to set plans in motion for the establishment of a new congregation which would solve the problem of overcrowding in that church. The church in its entirety, took the decision that lands should be sought in a new locality and that a new structure be build to accommodate the overflow and to enable the people of the Johnson Town area to worship closer to home.
It was not long before the present site was found, and with the quick action of the church, in consultation with East Jamaica Conference, the purchase was effected.
In 1977 Pastor B.A. Woodburn, now succeeding Pastor Weir, began to effect plans to establish the new church. The site was cleared, and on 24 April 1977, a large tent was pitched.
In 1978 during the Presidency of Pastor Bennett, Pastor Woodburn, being the local Pastor, broke grounds for the erection of what is now known as the Johnson Town Seventh-day Adventist Church.
On 6 March 1982, the Company, then existing under the name “Rollington Two” was organized as the “Johnson Town Seventh-Day Adventist Church” and joined the sisterhood of Churches of the East Jamaica Conference with Pastor M.E. Weir as President, Bro E.G. Lee, being first local Elder.
“All Things Come of Thee, Oh Lord,
And of Thine own have we given Thee…”
